Saint-Sandoux is a small town located at the foot of the Puys mountain range, about 30 kilometers south of Clermont-Ferrand. Together with Aurélien Lefort and Patrick Bouju, Frédéric Gounan is one of auvergne’s most influential winemakers. A large tree planted in the heart of the vineyards, gives its domaine its name. On the Puys chain, therefore with lava soil and basalt, they are ideal for the cultivation of pinot noir, sauvignon and pinot grigio. Its pinot noir expresses the depth and power of basalt soils while whites are elegant and complex. Frédéric trusts his wines a lot: even during moments of particular difficulty, where the wines were closed, devoid of their maximum expression, after a short period of time they have always returned to the goodness that characterizes them.
